Frequently Asked Questions

Students interested in a pre-health track should build a strong academic foundation in high school. Recommended coursework includes:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Algebra II (or higher-level math)

Additional preparation in writing and other natural sciences can help position students for success in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s rigorous, science-focused programs.

Gannon University offers affiliation agreements across seven pre-health pathways, providing students with structured routes into professional schools.

Program formats include:

  • 4+ Programs:
Students complete a traditional four-year bachelor’s degree (e.g., biology, biochemistry, chemistry) before entering a partner professional program.
  • 3+ Accelerated Programs:
Students complete three years at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and begin professional school early. A B.S. in Health Science is awarded after successfully completing the first year of professional school.
  • 2+ Accelerated Programs:
Students transition to professional school after two years at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ. These programs do not include completion of an undergraduate degree.

Each pathway offers a different timeline and level of acceleration, allowing students to choose the option that best fits their goals.

Students in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s pre-health programs gain extensive hands-on experience through:

  • Modern science laboratories equipped for biology, chemistry and health sciences
  • The Human Gross Anatomy Lab, featuring cadaver-based learning
  • Advanced anatomy models and simulation resources
  • The STEM Center, which provides tutoring and academic support

These experiences help students build practical skills, reinforce classroom learning and prepare for professional school environments.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ offers two primary types of affiliation opportunities with professional schools:

Early Acceptance Programs (EAP):

  • Students interview with a partner professional school during their time at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ
  • If accepted, a seat is reserved for them, provided they meet all program requirements
  • Students may apply to other schools, but doing so typically forfeits their reserved seat

Conditionally Guaranteed Interview Programs:

  • Students who meet program requirements are guaranteed an interview with a partner school
  • This interview provides a significant advantage in the application process
  • Students may still apply to multiple professional schools without penalty

Both options provide strong pathways to professional school, with varying levels of assurance and flexibility.
