Center for Social Concerns

Our programming includes local service and community engagement opportunities, advocacy and awareness building, and service and cultural immersion programs (ABST Program). Through these programs, participants come to know the gift of humbly serving, learning, and listening to our neighbors, and are challenged to reflect on these experiences and broaden their worldview. The CSC approaches our partnerships through a thoughtful, respectful process that seeks mutually beneficial outcomes and opportunities for sustainable and impactful service and cultural learning.

Our signature Alternative Break Service Trip (ABST) program provides opportunities for our students to develop as socially responsible global citizens through service, learning, and cultural immersion. These non-credit bearing, short-term, small group travel experiences provide students with the opportunity to grow personally and professionally, build relationships with our ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Family, and serve and encounter the world.

Our community engagement opportunities focus on campus-wide invitations to serve, including GIVE Day and Day of Caring, as well as opportunities for sustained and meaningful service in small groups within our local community. We seek to infuse advocacy and awareness building throughout our work, and we also offer experiences regularly to our campus community to build self-awareness, develop cultural competence, dialogue around challenging local and global issues, and grow in interfaith cooperation.
